Remington 700 SPS 30-06 Review

Remington 700 SPS 30-06Built to carry on the tradition of the Model 700™ ADL™ Synthetic, the Model 700™ SPS™ is leading the way for the next generation of hard-hitting, fully featured, affordable priced rifles. From the rock-solid receiver design to the famous “three rings of steel,” the Model 700 SPS offers the unrivaled out-of-the-box accuracy and high-end performance you’ve come to expect from America’s most popular bolt-action centerfire rifle.

Bottom line is this is a good rifle. We took it right out to the range after we received it and within no time at all we were on target with every shot. We were firing from 100 and 200 yards out and at each distance the rifle was spot on.

The 700 SPS 30-06 packs a solid punch and would be a great choice for any big game hunter. The recoil on this rifle will definitely be felt but the recoil pad does a great job of making it manageable. Over a few days at the range we put around 500 rounds through this rifle (we like to really test for our reviews) and it really did perform flawlessly. We did clean the rifle often and maybe this is why it performed so well, but like any firearm you should be cleaning them on a regular basis and especially if you are firing as many rounds as we did. We fed a few different kinds of ammo through the 700 SPS and we didn’t run into any problems. We even put some pretty cheap junk in it and it seemed to fire just fine.

The only problem we saw with this rifle out of the box was that the trigger pull was a little heavy. This really isn’t much of a problem at all because it is a very quick fix at your local Gunsmith. Even if you choose not to lighten the trigger pull it is still a good trigger out of the box, just a little heavier than we would prefer.

To sum it all up, if you are looking for a really good and reliable hunting rifle than check out the Remington 700 SPS 30-06. You will get the performance and power you expect and you won’t break go broke purchasing it. We would trust this rifle anytime we went out into the field looking for some big game.

This really is a good rifle. I have owned the Remington 700 SPS for a couple years now and it never has let me down. I have taken a couple deer with it and I got a nice size Elk last year with it.

Hi, My ADL is 50 years old and has been my best deer rifle and all around rifle. I bought it at 21 and still shoot it at 71. Of course my 1100 is about the same age and is still killing birds along the Rio Grande. What more could I ask of either but a lifetime of reliable service in the field.
