Bushmaster CAR15 .223 – The Perfect Survival Rifle
You can ask 10 different people what the best survival rifle is and you will get 10 different answers. Well I am going to give you my answer. The Bushmaster CAR15 .223 in my opinion is a great survival rifle for so many reasons.
First lets start with the basics of the rifle. This is an AR platform that performs very well. It has a carbon 15 upper and lower, 16″ lightweight barrel, telescoping stock, Bushnell red dot sight, 30 round magazine and it weighs in around 5 pounds. The Bushmaster rifle is legal in most states but unfortunately is illegal in a few states because of certain features (you know what states you are, wake up and give your citizens their rights!.) We know we might hear a lot of negative feedback and disagreement because we are saying an AR with a .223 round is a great survival rifle. Do we care? Actually no we don’t. We think after are testing and the facts we are laying out we might actually change some minds. We are confident this rifle would perform in any situation and the reasons below are why.
So why do I think this is such a great survival rifle? There are so many different reasons why it is and I will do my best to lay out my argument here. One of the main reasons is because it is so versatile. If you need it to hunt for food it will do the job very well. It will easily take down small game and with a well placed shot you will have enough power to take down some big game as well (before you say it won’t let me say, YES it actually will.) Remember food is an important part of any survival situation and this rifle will give you the accuracy and power to put some food on your table.
The Bushmaster Car15 is also pretty lightweight. At only around 5 pounds it is not going to slow you down at all. You can easily carry it over your shoulder with a sling or just carry it in your hands for long distances and it will not be much of a burden. Remember in a survival situation it is important to conserve your energy, having this lightweight rifle will help you do that.
One of the most important reasons why it is such a great survival rifle is because of the ammo it uses and how it handles ammo. The .223 round can be found at pretty decent prices online and at just about any local gun store. 223 ammo can also be purchased in large bulk quantities so you are always prepared. Some people are wary about buying cheap bulk ammo because they think it will cause problems with their firearms. This could be true with some firearms but it is not the case with the Bushmaster Car15. This rifle literally eats up anything you put in it. We have shot thousands of rounds of the dirtiest and cheapest Russian ammo and this thing just keeps on shooting. This is what you want in a survival rifle. You want a rifle that is not going to bankrupt you when it comes to purchasing ammo and you want a rifle that is going to fire when you want it to. This is what the Bushmaster does, it allows you to stock up on ammo for cheap without having to worry if the gun is going to fire.
So we have went over how the rifle is good for hunting in a survival situation and how it will eat up any ammo you feed it. So how would it handle itself in a fire fight. Are you going to feel confident that you will come out on top with this rifle? The chances of you walking away instead of the bad guy are very good with this rifle. With 30 round magazines and the option to purchase aftermarket magazines that will hold even more rounds, this rifle has the capability to put a lot of rounds down range very quickly. When we took the Bushmaster to the range recently we did some quick fire drills where we emptied multiple magazines very rapidly. We wanted to see how the rifle performed in a rapid fire situation so we emptied six 30 round magazines within about two minutes time. Once again the rifle performed beautifully. 180 rounds in about two minutes and this thing wanted to keep going. First and foremost this is a sporting rifle but it will excel on the field of battle and will excel in any survival situation you encounter.
Have we convinced you yet on why this Bushmaster CAR15 is such a good survival rifle? Do you want a very good priced rifle (under $700 on certain sites) that will do everything you need in a survival rifle? If you do than go pick up a Bushmaster CAR 15, you really will NOT be disappointed. We recommend this rifle to anyone that wants a versatile survival rifle that will perform well in any situation and will not break the bank on the way.

This is a great rifle! I have owned this for over a year now and have put thousands of rounds through it without any real problems. Great write up and spot on.
This sure let the bad guy come out on top in NewTown. This country doesn’t need this type of “survival” weapon. Shame on you for supporting what killed those innocent 6 and 7 yr olds! Kill an animal with a shot gun if you were a good shot you wouldn’t need such a deadly weapon.
Well said Julie. It is about time that the average person like you and me speak up and are clear that we do NOT need automatic, survival weapons in the United State of America. I support the elimination and removal of automatic weapons from everyday life!
Julie what you have said just helps show what is wrong with people in this country. You know nothing about this weapon except for what the media and liberal politicians want you to know. Also it is disgusting that you would say I support what killed 6 and 7 year olds. This article is over a year old and it is about a firearm, it is not about a psychotic killer that is actually responsible for the killings.
Please continue to live in your lala land where you government takes care of you and the police are always there to protect you. Maybe someday you will wake up and see the real world that we live in.
How Dare you, Say somthing like that, it is a very sad thing that happend in NewTown, but it was due to a very disturbed individual not the Tool if not the AR he would have used another including handguns or shotguns or explosives the guy was as evil and insane as they come. There are maney Law Abiding Citizens including myself that own these types of gun i own this same gun and I also have served in the military fighting for your freedom to say idiotic comments like some of the liberal garbage i’m hearing on this sight, there are alot more dangerous things on the streets of our country than rifles like these including people like you texting and driving, drugs drinking and driving and countless other things that make up more deaths in a year than a rifle such as this. and Btw I have a 5 and 10 round magazine that me and my wife use to shoot this firearm and only take 1 shot kills for pests around our ranch and ranges, which does not make me or any other honest person monsters for choosing to use this type of Sporting Rifle to me these are not monsters but just a tool for lightweight saddle carrying for when i go into the badlands to check on livestock. I’m going to buy one of these guns this week, The fact of the matter is there are over 10 million guns in the United States today and if you want to be left at the mercy of thug who breaks into your home feel free, but I choose to protect my family.
this rifle is fine if you are planning on your home being invaded by al-Qaeda or a small country of Syrian rebels? Otherwise, how bad of a shot do you have to be if you can’t kill him in the first 179 rounds? i would rather be at the mercy of a thug who breaks into my home then put this rifle into the hands of someone that has the potential to massacre a school and unload a magazine of ammo into the body of a 40 pound child. This gun was actually termed “assault rifle” by Adolf Hitler. It killed 20 innocent children, 6 brave teachers and a Mother,It is also responsible for the Colorado Movie theater massacre which took down 12 lives and injuring 58, as well as the 10 people murdered throughout DC, Maryland and Virginia and striking fear into Americans hearts over the course of 3 weeks. Yes your rifle is quite powerful. Im not sure it is required in the defense against the defense-less

You do realize that this kind of rifle wasn’t even invented until about 20 years after World War Two? Also you do realize that guns aren’t the only way mass amounts of people are killed? Maybe you choose to forget certain bombings in this country that have killed way more people than any mass shooting.
You go ahead and be at the mercy of the thug breaking into your house. I will keep my guns and I will call 911 to come and clean up the mess. To bad for you your 911 call will be made by the person that finds you after the thug has his way.
I agree with both Julie and Kristy. I curious about the gun used to kill so many innocent lives and found this article. No wonder there are so many mass shootings in this country! For starters, how many people in this country are going to be in an outdoor “survival situaton?” You should all be dropped off on the moon with your bushmasters! And what situation in the “wild” would you ever need to shoot off 180 rounds in 2 minutes? Any innocent animal would only need one shot. This gun is not worth the risk of being placed in the hands of the mentally deranged and should be illegal for civilain use.

I’m just curious how realistic the rate of fire on this gun is. Two minutes is 120 seconds. So to pull the trigger 180 times plus change the clip six times in that amount of time seems a reach. Can anyone verify that?
CJ I’m not sure what isn’t realistic about this. The gun will fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. Changing a magazine takes about 1 or 2 seconds. If you want to test it for yourself then curl up your trigger figure and pretend you are pulling a trigger, now do that 180 times as fast as possible so you can see how realistic it is. Also the article said in about 2 minutes, I didn’t say 120 seconds on the dot. We didn’t have a stop watch keeping time.
